Zucchini Seeds

Zucchini seeds need approx. 90 days to sprout.

….ok? So, what about it?

Well, isn’t it quite funny how the seeds just “do”? I mean, you can plea, beg or threaten them and they will still not sprout earlier then these 90 days (When I start thinking of it, it would look really strange seeing someone yell at some pots with zucchini seeds to grow faster… 😀 ). They have their rhythm and their set time and there is actually nothing you can do to change it. You will have to wait and be patient.

This thought and post is inspired by a yoga class lead by Britta Kimpel, which I have recently visited. She promotes the attitude of “deeper, slower, closer” a unique countermovement of our so well-known mindset of “harder, faster, stronger”. In her class Britta was speaking about rhythm and especially your personal rhythm and flow. Finding YOUR rhythm in life. Sometimes that means ignoring others around you and actually sticking to the pace, which feels good to you.

I have a lasting impression of this class. It focused on tuning in with your body and really observing, what is necessary. How much active movements do you have to make? How much can you actually let yourself surrender or let go? Do you need to compare yourself always to others or even think ahead of what they might say about you?

All of this, we can absolutely use in our daily lives. How often are we stuck in “should have’s”, “could have’s” and “they expect me to…”? All too often we actually fall into that trap and start ignoring our inner feeling of what is good for us and what is really needed in order to proceed on our personal way. Moreover think of the following:

When am I trying too hard to achieve something?
Where, in my life, am I trying to force things through using brutal power?
Where could I take my feet off the gas a bit and just enjoy the journey?

Maybe these situations are like the zucchini seeds. They just need time and there is nothing at all you can change about it. You can try very hard, beg, be frustrated and it does not go forward even an inch. I guess everyone has at least one problem or issue, he/she wants to be solved and it does not work out like that. The more you try, the more frustrated you get and you are racking your brain days and nights. And in the end you find yourself in a huge maelstrom of thoughts, over and over… These are actually the moments, where we can really learn how to tune in with ourselves. The opportunities, where we can start listening to our inner guidance.

Remember?

Zucchini seeds need approx. 90 days to sprout.

You can beg. You can wish. You can get mad.

It does not matter.

They will take their time.

Looking back, I can think of many situations from my past, which seemed so desperate or where I just wanted it to happen NOW, but it did not work out. I was just running against a wall all the time and in that moment I could not imagine it to end well. But, of course, in the end it turned out to be good. And if it was not good yet, it was still not the end… 🙂

So the next time you are stuck in a difficult situation. Stop. Breath mindfully and leave all these thoughts and ideas others are giving you aside. And then feel really, how YOU feel about it. Even if you are not able to get a connection to yourself, it does not matter. Observe your situation from all angles. Be patient and smile. Maybe this nut shell just needs its own time to open up to release its treasure…
